SSG GOES TO BAGUIO

Members of the Supreme Student Government (SSG) of the Makati Science High School participate in the 7th National Leadership Training for Student Government Officers, Sept. 4 – 9 in the Baguio Teachers’ Camp with the theme: “New Beginners for Nation – Building: Seizing Opportunities, Sustaining Initiatives”, the seminar aims to develop leadership skills among students.

The SSG officers, along with student government adviser Mrs. Mira Alegre and the delagteas of the school, namely: Maria Sariah Moriancumer Andaca, Richelle Relator, and Abigail Pacho, join the 6000 students and teachers from all over the country who take part in the week-long training.

44 representative schools come from the National Capital Region (NCR), 9 of which are from the Division of Makati, namely: Makati Science, Makati High School, Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino High School, Gen. Pio del Pilar National High School, Fort Bonifacio High School, Pitogo High School, Bangkal High School, San Isidro High School, and San Antonio High School.

The representatives of each school participate in the seminars and sessions during their 8-day stay in .

Speakers in the person of Fr Jayboy Gonzales of the Jesuit Communications, Mr Harvey Keh of Ateneo de Manila University, Mr Anthony Pangilinan of Businessworks, Mr Cito Beltran and Ms Miriam Quiambao. The Student Trainers of Ateneo (STRAINS) organized the afternoon sessions.

Some political figures also attend the affair. Among them are the Vice President Chief of Staff Jesse Andres and the DepEd Undersecretary Ramon Bacani.

Executive Director Joey Pelaez serves as the head of DepEd CSCA which organized the leadership training.
