The Supreme Student Government (SSG), in coordination with the school’s administration, conducts relief operations to help the victims of the Typhoon Ondoy.
Students are asked to donate goods in any kind to be given to those who are affected by the typhoon. Goods are forwarded to the SSG who would be the ones to distribute the donations to the victims.
In connection with the SSG’s relief operation, the alumni of Makti Science organize a fund-raising concert for the benefit of the Typhoon Ondoy victims. Non-Government Organizations (NGO) has managed to collect donations in goods and cash. Proceeds from the said concert will be forwarded to the SSG’s relief operations.
Last Sept. 26, typhoon Ondoy brought heavy rain in Metro Manila and its neighboring areas. It caused flood in a matter of hours which resulted to death and loss of many houses for many Filipinos.
According to the National Disaster Coordinating Council (NDCC), 280 are died, 38 are lost, and 7 are injured.
Over 375, 000 people are still in evacuation centers while more or less 235, 000 are still out even without proper housing.
According to the reports of NDCC, there is over Php 4.69 billion worth of damage caused by the typhoon to infrastructures and agricultural lands 1.52 billion is to infrastructures and 3.17 billion is to agriculture. Region 4-A CALABARZON had the greatest damage that reached up to Php 291 million. Next to it is Metro Manila and Region 3. It is expected that the damage cost will still rise in the coming days as reports from different parts of the country reach NDCC.
Different Non-Government Organizations (NGOs) launched relief operations in areas affected by Typhoon Ondoy. These organizations reach Marikina, Rizal, Pasig, Malabaon, and other parts of the National Capital Region (NCR). There is a particular need of water and medication in the said areas.
In response to the typhoon’s effect in the country, the Malacanang Palace opened its gates to evacuees who still do not have a place to live in. The palace also gave relief goods to the people living near Malacanang.
Due to the trauma caused by what the country experienced during the typhoon, everyone is asked to prepare for the typhoon nearing the country.
Typhoon Pepeng immediately destroys the northern part of Luzon and brings heavy rains to Metro Manila and its neighboring regions.
Relief operations are still ongoing. Donations are to be forwarded to the different NGOs and universities.
