NEW FESGOM OFFICERS ELECTED

As another school year unfolds, a new regime must take charge .

The newly elected presidents of each public high school from the Division of City Schools of Makati gathered last March 16 as candidates at the Makati Science High School Conference Room together with their vice presidents, representatives, student government advisers, and coordinators, in order to choose a new set of officers of the Federation of Student Government of Makati (FESGOM).

After a brief acquaintance session, the incumbent FESGOM officers  ̶  headed by president, Portia Jessica Maclan  ̶  and advisers interviewed each candidate about their views on different social, political, economical, environmental, and educational issues, in order to determine each one’s gauge to serve as student leaders.
 
After the elections commenced, Von Carlo Yacob from Fort Bonifacio High School (FBHS) emerged victorious as the new FESGOM president as he impressed the audience with his brief but intellectual response. In line with that, Mr Rizal Cantiller from FBHS is appointed as the new FESGOM adviser.

Meanwhile, Gerboy Usi from San Antonio National High School (SANHS) was hailed as the vice president, Timothy Abel Gonzales from Bangkal High School (BHS) as the secretary, Alexis Mari Alarcon from Makati Science High School (MSHS) as the treasurer, Paul Eric Carganilla from Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino High School (BNAHS) as the auditor, Adrian Santoalla from Pitogo High School (PHS) as the public information officer, and Jayson Reyes from Gen. Pio del Pilar National High School (GPDPNHS) as the peace officer. Cielo Labraque from San Isidro National High School (SINHS) was appointed as head of the Special Events Committee, and John Mark Peralta from Makati High School (MHS) as head of the Committee on Elections.

The board members of FESGOM were also appointed during the division meeting, which include Franz Michael Ferdnandez, FBHS; Adrian Barcillo, SANHS; Jainee Micaela Turla, MSHS; Jonna Mae Jacinto, BNAHS; Jomari Villarta, PHS; Rian Martin, GPDPNHS; Israel Bungay, SINHS; Ronnie Boy Caguioa, MHS; and Gimel Villafuerte, THS.

“I wasn't expecting that I will be the next FESGOM president. But still, many had given their trust on my capability to lead so ‘grab the opportunity’.  Remember, ‘we can't get all things that we desire but we can have all the things we deserve’  So I’m bravely accepting the challenge for being in this position. And I want to thank my friends and my Adviser, Mr. Cantiller, for their overwhelming support. Godspeed and mabuhay ang FESGOM!” Yacob said after the elections.
