OLIVEROS NAMED ONE OF TEN OUTSTANDING
STUDENTS OF MAKATI

                Aimee Nicole Lofranco Oliveros of IV – Albert Einstein, together with other awardees, was recognized as one of the Ten Outstanding Students of Makati (TOSM) at the Main Theater of the University of Makati, March 15.

                On the 34th year of the search for the TOSM, City of Makati Mayor Jejomar Cabauatan Binay said that this year’s search aimed to recognize the vital role of the city’s youth in the growth and development of the community, the city, and the nation as a whole, thus encouraging them to continuously strive for excellence and leadership.

                “I feel very honored to have this once-in-a-lifetime award. Iba na siyempre ‘yung makatanggap ng ganitong award, parang nakakabit na ‘to sa pangalan mo. Masarap sa pakiramdam, para kang tinitingala ng tao,” ecstatic Oliveros said.

                Other awardees aside from Oliveros were Julie Ann A Arreza, San Antonio National High School; Janyn P Berame, Fort Bonifacio High School; Allan Arthur L Cabrera, Colegio San Agustin; Josef S Villanueva, Pitogo High School; Samantha Nina Marie R Uy, Assumption College; Meryl P Lumboy, St Paul College of Makati; Ma Magda R Gana, Gen Pio del Pilar National High School; Lorenzo Emmanuel P Dela Paz, Don Bosco Technical Institute; and Harvey Nicol C Chua, Makati Hope Christian School;

                The awardees received trophies, Paglingkuran ang Bayan medallions, gifts from National Bookstore, Chowking Foods Corporation, Diwa Learning System, and San Miguel Corporation.

                Binay also recognized the involvement of Makati Jaycees, a civic organization, which has been a program partner for the past 33 years. Jaycees Leadership Awards recipients were Marielle S Valenzuela, Colegio de Santa Rosa-Makati and Joseph Jason A Escamill, San Isidro National High School.

                 The following criteria were used to determine the winners: academics, 40%; school-based extra-curricular activities, 25%; school representative extra-curricular activities, 25%; and delivery of piece for particular talent, 10%.

                Public and private fourth year high school students who were nominated by their respective schools were chosen carefully based on the guidelines approved by the organizers and the board of judges.

                Broadcast Media Educator Chichi Fajardo-Robles, TOSM 1997 winner, served as the Master of Ceremonies.
